How can I help?
Mary Abbott Children's House has many diverse opportunites for volunteers as well as ways to help. Listed below are some volunteer oppertunities and some ways to help which are flexible and allow for a wide range of time commitment, abilities, and level of involvement.
- Agency Tour
Learn more about the services we provide and tour our facility.
Monthly donation from your checking account - Please send us a voided check. All debits will be processed between the 20th and the end of each month. We currently offer one-time debits and monthly debits.
- Unique Donations
- Abbott House now accepts credit cards, checks, and debit cards. We also accept stocks and bonds. Have a Paypal account? Click the Paypal logo on the left to use process a secure Paypal transaction!
- Child Advocate
- Become trained to work directly with children and family members, helping to create a relaxed environment at Mary Abbott Children's House by playing games and talking with the children. Volunteers are used on an on-call basis, due to emergency nature of our work, and set according to each volunteer's schedule. To fill out a volunteer application please click here.
- Administrative
- Assist staff with answering phones, copying, and bulk mail, assist with quarterly newsletter.
- Building and Grounds
- Maintain flowerbeds and gardening and help with summer mowing (equipment provided). Also assist with interior repairs and miscellaneous work.
- Special Projects
- Decorate facility during holidays or special events; set up a teddy bear drive; share special skills such as bilingual capabilities.
- Community Outreach
- Assist with public speaking engagements promoting community awareness and education; participate in agency booth at conferences and public events.
- Fundraising
- Participate in a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year.
- Committee Work
- Join a committee to help us with our efforts. Current Committees include Personnel, Finance, Special Events Fundraising, Publicity and Community Awareness, Facilities, and Board Development.
- Court School
- Help with assembly of packets for participants and possibly facilitate court school training sessions. Court School helps children and their families learn what a trial is like and how the court operates. Individual cases are not discussed in Court School.
- General Funds
- In order to continue providing services to families, we need help with funds to cover our everyday operating costs. Click here to learn more.
